I had been to Cà de Monti for the first time.<br />
Until that moment, I could only imagine the place<br />
through the pictures collected over the last<br />
weeks. While driving alone, both the car and the<br />
excitement, I covered the remaining kilometres<br />
left to reach the village from Tredozio listening<br />
“MFSB – Mysteries of the World”, a funk/soul<br />
tune from 1980 with no voices but an elegant<br />
groove. I couldn’t resist filling the gaps left by<br />
the bass lines and the heavenly arches with<br />
some spoken words, wondering about mysteries,<br />
indeed. The specific mystery for me, at<br />
that moment, was to define the reasons why<br />
this place was abandoned 6 years ago, but I<br />
knew I would find my answers once getting<br />
to know Mr. Billi, whose appearance was still<br />
undefined to me.<br />
As far as I knew, the spaces of Cà de Monti<br />
were later used as a rural accommodation and<br />
restaurant, until the doors closed permanently<br />
facing a long neglected period.<br />
While grass and plants were already taking over<br />
the sidewalks, the prominent stone walls were<br />
standing in a likely perpetual state of being,<br />
imposing his masses above the flourishing<br />
manifestation of nature’s reappropriation of<br />
the land. Inside, everything was apparently in<br />
its place: beds, sofas, tables and chairs. Some<br />
clothes were hanging on a chair at the entrance<br />
of the upper building. Cà de Monti looked like<br />
a place just left by someone in rush, but the<br />
