Habitat è un centro cult(r)urale e laboratorio collettivo nell'abitato di Cà de Monti, a 5 km da Tredozio (FC), nel cuore degli Appennini tra Romagna e Toscana, ai margini del Parco delle Foreste Casentinesi.
Dal 2021, con l'arrivo di un primo gruppo di persone, Habitat è diventato casa: un esperimento dell'abitare e una pratica quotidiana di fermentazione culturale. Durante l'anno, gruppi sempre diversi di residenti permanenti e temporanei, amici e viandanti si incontrano qui per vivere, condividere, immaginare e costruire nuove forme di collettività, attraversando linguaggi e pratiche differenti.
Habitat è uno spazio di scambio e contaminazione, dove identità, conoscenze e approcci diversi si incontrano, si intrecciano e si trasformano. Gli abitanti - umani, pennuti bipedi e morbidi quadrupedi - contribuiscono alla vita del luogo costruendo narrazioni, momenti, relazioni, e prendendosi cura insieme degli spazi, degli strumenti e dei processi.
Nuovi abitanti?
Dopo un lungo periodo di lavoro e ristrutturazione, abbiamo riaperto nuovi spazi a Cà de Monti e siamo felici di accogliere nuovi cicli di ospitalità e residenze.
Da aprile 2026 apriamo le porte a chi vuole abitare e vivere (a) Cà de Monti per periodi medio-lunghi (fino a 3 mesi), contribuendo al mantenimento, all'evoluzione e alla ramificazione di questo microcosmo.
Accogliamo pratiche e percorsi diversi: ricerche ibride, progetti in divenire, curiosità ostinate, momenti di studio o di produzione. Spazio anche a corse dietro le galline e coccole ai gatti.
Cà de Monti
Cà de Monti è un luogo di accoglienza, convivialità, ricerca e produzione a contatto con il territorio. È composto da due edifici e una piccola chiesa sconsacrata, su un'altura con vista aperta sul confine tra Romagna e Toscana.
Nasce da un'antica struttura di ristoro e oggi è immerso in circa 250 ettari di pinete, castagneti e boschi secolari, in un contesto ricco di vita animale e vegetale.
Cosa trovi qui
Durante la permanenza potrai usare diversi spazi di lavoro e di vita quotidiana:
- spazi condivisi con scrivanie e internet (circa 100 Mb/s download, 25 Mb/s upload)
- falegnameria / maker space
- camera oscura (sviluppo e stampa b/n)
- stampa digitale e serigrafia base
- sartoria
- sala musica
- salone del movimento
- cucina industriale e forno a legna
- tech corner (server ed elettronica base)
- una valle quasi tutta per noi
Mettiamo in comune anche le nostre competenze: dalla trasformazione del cibo all'editoria, dalla musica al disegno, dal tessile al lavoro con la terra, dalla scrittura al codice. Uno slalom continuo tra linguaggi.
Se vuoi sviluppare un progetto o imparare una pratica, possiamo costruire insieme un percorso e, se serve, coinvolgere qualcuno che ti accompagni.
Se hai bisogno di strumenti o materiali specifici, possiamo organizzarli in anticipo. Alcuni materiali o grandi quantità potrebbero richiedere un contributo aggiuntivo.

A Cà de Monti troverai quasi sempre Chiara, Marco, Federico e Giuseppe, insieme a Jacopo ed Enrico: il nucleo del collettivo permanente di Habitat.
Come funziona
Habitat è parte di Distretto A, un'associazione culturale di promozione sociale no profit. Si sostiene grazie al contributo dei soci e degli abitanti: umano, culturale ed economico.
Durante la permanenza sarai coinvolto nelle attività quotidiane e nella cura degli spazi condivisi. La vita qui è flessibile e in continuo adattamento: ci si organizza giorno per giorno, insieme.
Residenze
Apprezziamo candidature abbinate a progetti abbozzatti, come iniziati e lasciati a metà. Abbracciamo nuovi progetti ma non disdegnamo l'incertezza. Anzi, crediamo nella sorpresa, nella scoperta e nei processi ancor più che gli intenti iniziali. Mescoliamo musica, scrittura, arti visive, performance, design, gastronomia e tutto quello che sta in mezzo o ai margini.
Ogni residenza prende la sua forma e può trasformarsi nelle più svariate forme di restituzione.
Invitiamo e prediligiamo permanenze di almeno due settimane, soprattutto se è la prima volta: è il tempo minimo per orientarsi, conoscere il luogo e attivare davvero una relazione con il contesto. Siamo comunque aperti a valutare durate diverse in base ai progetti.
Per periodi più lunghi (1–3 mesi), organizziamo una chiamata conoscitiva prima della conferma.
Contributo di ospitalità
Il contributo copre posto letto, cibo e accesso agli spazi e agli strumenti comuni:
- 175€ a settimana
- 600€ al mese
Non include la quota associativa annuale (10€).
La dispensa condivisa varia in base alla disponibilità, ma include generalmente: verdure (anche dall'orto), pane fatto in casa, cereali, legumi, uova, latticini, miele, conserve, olio, farine, caffè, tisane, e il necessario per la cura quotidiana della casa.
Se hai esigenze alimentari specifiche, è importante comunicarlo in anticipo.

Habitat is a cult(r)ural center and collective laboratory located in the village of Cà de Monti, 5 km from Tredozio (FC), in the heart of the Apennines between Romagna and Tuscany, on the edge of the Casentinesi Forest National Park.
Since 2021, with the arrival of a first group of people, Habitat has become home: an experiment in living and a daily practice of cultural fermentation. Throughout the year, ever-changing groups of permanent and temporary residents, friends, and wanderers meet here to live, share, imagine, and build new forms of collectivity, moving across different languages and practices.
Habitat is a space of exchange and cross-pollination, where different identities, forms of knowledge, and approaches meet, intertwine, and transform one another. Its inhabitants — humans, feathered bipeds, and soft quadrupeds — contribute to the life of the place by building narratives, moments, and relationships, and by collectively caring for the spaces, tools, and processes.
New inhabitants?
After a long period of work and renovation, we have reopened new spaces in Cà de Monti and are happy to welcome new cycles of hospitality and residencies.
From April 2026, we are opening our doors to those who wish to live in and experience Cà de Monti for medium to long periods (up to 3 months), contributing to the maintenance, evolution, and branching out of this microcosm.
We welcome a variety of practices and paths: hybrid research, works in progress, stubborn curiosities, moments of study or production. There is also room for chasing chickens and cuddling cats.
Cà de Monti
Cà de Monti is a place of hospitality, conviviality, research, and production in close contact with the surrounding territory. It consists of two buildings and a small deconsecrated church, set on a hilltop with an open view over the border between Romagna and Tuscany.
It grew out of an old roadside inn and is now immersed in around 250 hectares of pinewoods, chestnut groves, and ancient forests, in an environment rich in animal and plant life.
What you will find here
During your stay, you will be able to use various spaces for work and daily life:
- shared spaces with desks and internet access (around 100 Mb/s download, 25 Mb/s upload)
- woodshop / maker space
- darkroom (black-and-white developing and printing)
- digital printing and basic screen printing
- sewing studio
- music room
- movement hall
- industrial kitchen and wood-fired oven
- tech corner (server and basic electronics)
- an almost entirely private valley
We also share our skills: from food processing to publishing, from music to drawing, from textiles to working with the land, from writing to coding. A continuous slalom across languages.
If you want to develop a project or learn a practice, we can build a path together and, if needed, involve someone who can guide you.
If you need specific tools or materials, we can arrange them in advance. Some materials or large quantities may require an additional contribution.
Who we are
At Cà de Monti you will almost always find Chiara, Marco, Federico, and Giuseppe, together with Jacopo and Enrico: the core of Habitat's permanent collective.
How it works
Habitat is part of Distretto A, a non-profit cultural and social promotion association. It is sustained through the contribution of its members and inhabitants: human, cultural, and economic.
During your stay, you will be involved in daily activities and in the care of shared spaces. Life here is flexible and constantly adapting: we organize things together, day by day.
Residencies
We appreciate applications paired with sketched-out projects, as well as projects that have been started and left halfway. We embrace new projects, but we do not shy away from uncertainty. On the contrary, we believe in surprise, discovery, and processes even more than in initial intentions. We mix music, writing, visual arts, performance, design, gastronomy, and everything that lies in between or at the margins.
Each residency takes its own shape and can evolve into a wide variety of forms of restitution.
We invite and prefer stays of at least two weeks, especially if it is your first time: this is the minimum time needed to get oriented, get to know the place, and truly activate a relationship with the context. We are nonetheless open to considering different durations depending on the projects.
For longer periods (1–3 months), we arrange an introductory call before confirmation.
Hospitality contribution
The contribution covers accommodation, food, and access to shared spaces and tools:
- €175 per week
- €600 per month
It does not include the annual membership fee (€10).
The shared pantry varies depending on availability, but generally includes: vegetables (also from the garden), homemade bread, grains, legumes, eggs, dairy products, honey, preserves, oil, flours, coffee, herbal teas, and everything needed for the daily care of the house.
If you have specific dietary needs, it is important to let us know in advance.
