# The Parade


To proceed is to move 
Movement in space, movement in time 
 
To proceed is to process.

To proceed and process while carrying something is an act of care. 
Carrying means bearing weight, bringing things along.  
Not leaving behind. 
 
I saw a procession, of people carrying objects. A procession of people carrying symbols. With painted faces, bright eyes, and singing mouths. A whole organism made of flesh and wood, hair and paper, cloths and hearts. 
From the house to the holy mountain.  
Bits and pieces of the history of a place

The street starts to go up. It’s time to push a little.  
Watch out at the Holy Mountain, the ground is slippery. There are rocks. But if they go slowly, all together, they are safe. 
The organism reaches the top of the mountain.  
The objects are placed together, communicating with each other. Naturally becoming one. Somehow, every element matches the other.  
There is movement. Things are being switched, changed, just a little. Small adjustments that show shades of attentiveness. 
Rocks from the mountain are also collected. They turn into a spiral on the ground. 
Connecting the mountain to the misplaced objects, connecting the people to the place. 
The sun is starting to settle. The air turns yellow. 
It is time to go home.  
Before leaving, the people look back at the objects, resting peacefully together.  
Slightly moving, with the wind. A gentle touch. 
It’s time to let the mountain sleep. 
The organism recomposes itself. Becoming one again, a human- object apparatus.

To proceed is to move

A way to look back, at what has been done. A way to foresee possibilities for the future. 
Activating the organism, in order for it to live and walk. 
 
A procession to remember, to reflect, to look forward.

(Text written for a performance that took place on the 20th of October 2022 at Habitat during the Megastudio residency. 
“The Parade” is a short movie that documents this performance, a sacred procession reaching the Holy Mountain. 
Every resident carried an object created during the workshops taking place in the first year of habitat. 
The performance ended on the top of the mountain with the creation of a collaborative installation.)
